It was basically a poem set to pages, telling of various ways that all peoples have come to America; there is even a subtle allusion to the current politics (such as “Make America great again”), implying that America is currently great because of its diversity. A repetitive cadence of “We are

all Americans just the same” occurs every few pages. The illustrations are childlike and bright, with representations of many skin colors. It demonstrates both a joy and sorrow in the immigration process (showing that some peoples came without choice; some came - and come - seeking refuge).
