Centre, and sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Centre of Vancouver, Canada; from November 26-December 11, 1993.

'For two weeks in the late fall of 1993, several Vancouver-area cultural and community centres becoeme hotbeads of artistic activity. The event was "Racy Sexy," with screenings, readings, performances and exhibitions exploring the intersection of race, culture and sexuality. Up until then, these issues had been foucsed on separately in specific group shows... What "Racy Sexy'" atempted was to bring all three together, as in works like Kwoi Gin's film, "Bright Sun, Dark Shade" or Andrew Olewine's performance piece, "Scarlett Fever." But if "Racy Sexy" began with a specific focus, in practice it worked by providing an over-all context whereby individual artists could set their own terms of reference to issues of race, sexuality and culture, and where this work could be seen and heard at a community level...'
