'This year is special for Beijing since it is where the 2008 Olympic Games will be held. To add luster to the Olympic Games, Art Beijing will be bigger and better than ever
The four core principles of the fair have consistently been “taking Chinese contemporary art as the core”, “being completely Asian and yet engaged in the world”, “placing equal weight on academic and commercial considerations”, and “educating the public and acting in a socially responsible way”. The galleries who have the best contemporary Chinese artworks will be the highlight of the fair, and in keeping with the key idea of “being completely Asian”, we will make a concerted eort to invite galleries from Korea, Japan, India and the Middle East. The fair will therefore be a real platform for all contemporary Asian art. We expect 50% of the exhibitors to come from China, 30% from the other Asian countries, and 20% from Europe and America. Moreover, we plan to specially reserve a “Photo Space” in the exhibition hall for participating photo galleries.'
