addition to its rapid industrial and economic development, Canada has been making rapid developments culturally and artistically. Although Canada and Japan are neighbors across the Pacific Ocean, very little of Canadian culture has found its way to Japan, aside from a few exhibitions.

This is the first exhibition to introduce, in a systematic way, a major retrospective of Candian art, including its changes and development from the time of the initial development distinctive characteristics early in this century.
