artists to present their experiences of spatial and local displacement from critical viewpoints with regard to social conditions and the gender structure, a new understanding and interpretation of history is required. Now women artists from the Asian area who share similar modern historical experiences will get together to propose a perspective not of "history" but of "herstory" by representing their common historical, psychological, social backgrounds and their collective colonial experiences through an interpretive framework fo post-colonialism and by expressing the uniqueness of the national, individual identity and the creative subjectivity.'
