This is a catalogue published Shiko Kataoka's solo exhibition "Linked Lines", held at the Pendulum Gallery, Vancouver, from May 6 - 30, 2002. The exhibition also travelled from Toronto to Edmonton in 2001 - 2002.
Inspired by a conference on Japanese Women's Texts, Shiko Kataoka created a series of
'While the way trod by women writers from the Heian period to modern times flashes with spelndour, it is a world of beauty born from pain like that of a wound. Reflecting on this, some works I have tried to express with a restrained "yamato" feeling; on them all, I have staked my heart.'
