Description

It's 1922 in the Manhattan of gin, jazz and prosperity. Women wear makeup and hitched hemlines - and enjoy a new freedom to vote and work. Not so for Evelyn Lockhart, who is forbidden from pursuing her passion to become one of the first female doctors. Four and a half stars.
I really enjoyed this book. Written with flair and fun, it's a captivating saga with a wonderful cast of characters. The 1920s setting is glamorous and intriguing. It was a book I didn't want to put down.

little too capable, otherwise I would have given this a full 5 stars. Even with it's flaws, the story flows well, and is definitely worth a read.
And just curious, but when the lead character is blonde, why is the woman on the cover a brunette?

I love Natasha Lester's books. They are accurately researched, well-written, feature strong women characters and just a great story. I've read several of her books and I especially love how she works fashion into her stories. Her descriptions of the beautiful clothes for men and women are so

exciting. You almost feel as if you are there. Her characters have flaws, but you still care about them and want them to succeed. A great read, catches you from the first page.
