Based on more than 100 shipboard diaries written by both ships' crew and passengers. Includes footnotes, a bibliography and an index. The author has written several maritime histories, as well as two volumes of autobiography, 'March as to War' and 'Journeys into Night', and the classic, 'No Moon Tonight'.
