Emma, a young woman from the Antebellum South feels called to the mission field in Africa. She marries Henry, a missionary to the Yoruba.
Life in Africa is not what Emma expected. Their marriage, and Henry's pesonality, are tempestuous.
It is Emma's writing box, and her memories of the old family
I'd say this book was so-so. It wasn't great, but I did enjoy the parts about Africa, and there was drama that kept me reading as well.

An ok read for me. Kind of lost it's momentum at the end but an ok read. It's about a husband and his young wife who go to Africa to be missionaries in the 1840's.
