Description: Joseph E. B. Lumbard is currently Assistant Professor of Classical Islam in the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University and former Advisor for Interfaith Affairs to His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. He is the editor of Islam, Fundamentalism, and the Betrayal of Tradition: Essays by Western Muslim Scholars (World Wisdom, 2004), the translator of “No god, but God is My fortress...” Ahmad al-Ghazali on Dhikr (Fons Vitae, forthcoming), and an editor of The Harper Collins Study Quran (Harper Collins, forthcoming).
