Description: A Song on the View was sung by the Gelug master Janggya Rolpe Dorje upon attaining the first Bhumi. In this teaching Mitra Karl Brunnhölzl teaches with precision and humor the view presented in this song. This teaching is based on Rolpe Dorje’s song together with commentary by the great Dzogchen master, Ju Mipham Rinpoche. Throughout this teaching, Mitra Brunnhölzl entertains questions about applying the ultimate view to the issues of everyday living. In answers that are clear and entertaining, he clarifies our understanding of the union of dependent origination and emptiness, and provides profound advice on using this understanding to work with samsaric suffering. Mitra Brunnhölzl’s translation of Song on the View together with the commentary by Mipham Rinpoche appears in his book Straight from the Heart. This book brings together an inspiring collection of poems, songs of realization, meditation instructions, and philosophical treatises all chosen for their power to speak directly to the student.
