The film combines excerpts from the Zen Master's public talks, on-the-spot footage with the American monks, and scenic footage from each of the cities visited. Berlin, Oslo, Paris, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Frankfurt form colorful backdrops for behind-the-scenes moments where we see how Zen Master Seung Sahn's everyday life and irrepressible personality reflected i the wisdom of his teaching.
The film was shot, directd, and edited by Brad Anderson, an award-winning independent filmmaker from Boston. Anderson's camera work conveys not only the beauty and simplicity of Zen, but also the humor and good-natured irreverance that make Zen Master Seung Sahn's teaching unique.
