Description: Sri H.W.L. Poonja, lovingly referred to as Papaji, was born on October 13, 1910 in part of the Punjab that is now Pakistan. He had his first direct experience of the Self at the age of nine. He met his guru, Sri Ramana Maharshi, 1n 1944 and, shortly afterwards, in the presence of his guru, he realized the Self. After extensive travel, Papaji settled down in Lucknow, India, where he received visitors from around the world. He died on September 6, 1997.
Papaji held formal satsang daily. Through his presence, his words, and his dynamic transmissions, countless people have been made aware of the impersonal reality that underlies the world and all phenomenal experiences. This DVD, recorded in Papaji's Satsang Bhavan, is one such satsang.
Following his talk on the Self, Papaji is asked about overcoming karma. He says that in knowing oneself karma ceases to function, and then describes the impediments to such realization and the means whereby realization is achieved. Papaji also addresses a question about Vipassana meditation and, by association, meditation in general. Later in this satsang, he uses a wonderful story about a Sufi saint as a means of teaching about the nature of Reality.
