Description: Although everything is impermanent and interdependence, our hope involves us in an insatiable pursuit of what we think will make us happy, and our fear of losing what we have makes us terrified of change. What we really need to do is arrive at a fundamental acceptance of impermanence.
Even though they are continually changing and unreliable, we believe that we are thoughts, emotions, and stories. However, the only thing that is constant, unchanging, and reliable, is the clarity of our mind stream. Whether we are happy or sad, the cognizant quality of pure consciousness is with us throughout our lives, and continues until enlightenment. In spite of the fact that the world is so decadent and difficult, and that our lives can be so complex, if we have discovered inner freedom of the mind, we ourselves can be simple and uncomplicated and maintain a carefree dignity. We will be at ease and relaxed with everyone, in every situation.
Our thoughts and emotions are only shadows and reflections of ourselves. Meditation practice dissolves these falsehoods, and allows us to be genuine. We open to who we really are, and find rest in the basic goodness of the nature of mind. If we can trust this clear cognition, all that is left for us to do is to enjoy our true nature, and discover authentic happiness.
