Description: "This is an early teaching of the Dalai Lama in the West (1984), filmed by The Meridian Trust. It's rather difficult with lot's of Buddhist terminology, and the main teaching is in Tibetan followed with English translation. Yet it's an important teaching, and worthwhile for those with a serious interest in Buddhism.

Unlike some of the more modern recordings, there are no chapter points allowing one to skip to the English sections. So one can enjoy the sound of the teachings in Tibetan, and the interactions between H.H. and his translator, or one can use the fast forward key to try and get to the next English section manually.

For those wanting more accessible recordings you might try
COMPASSION: THE SOURCE OF HAPPINESS dvd#483
and H.H. Visits Woodstock dvd-690 or even
COMPASSION: THE SOURCE OF HAPPINESS dvd#701.

On the other hand, if this is the teaching for you, don't miss its mate in difficulty and high teachings: THE BODHISATTVA MOTIVATION: THE PERFECTION OF CONCENTRATION dvd-650."
