Description: Where the Two Seas Meet:
Final Talks: Sufism and the West
February 7 and March 21, 2010 in Tiburon, California with Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee
3 hours
These are the final two talks from the introductory series on Sufism, The Sufi Path of Love and the Secrets of Mystical Oneness.
dvd 1. Separation and Union The first talk explores the central Sufi theme of the journey from separation to union, and the longing of the heart that draws the wayfarer Home. This journey begins with the pain of separation—the lover separate from the Beloved—and finally reveals the secret of divine union, that the lover and Beloved were always united, are always one.
dvd 1:
1. Talk, 56 min
2. Audience Questions, 30 min
dvd 2. Sufism's Contribution to the West The second talk looks at the contribution Sufism has made to our Western civilization, from its presence in Andalusia at the time of Moorish Spain, to its journey in the last century to America. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee explores some of the central qualities that it has brought to the West: the secrets of mystical love and the lived experience of divine oneness, the unity of being. Finally he includes the subject of the awliyâ, the friends of God who look after the spiritual well-being of the world.
dvd 2:
1. Talk, 52 min
2. Audience Questions, 29 min
