Description: This book is based on Futuhat, the Fusus, booklets published by Professors Nyberg and Asin, and other writings. In the course of writing this book the author has paid special attention to the Fusus and the poetry of Ibn al-Arabi which contain the essence of the Shaykh's philosophy. The earlier part of the book deals with a short history of pantheism which will enable the reader to study the philosophy of the Shaykh in its relation to the other schools of pantheism that preceded his and to estimate correctly the extent to which he was indebted to his predecessors.

Then the author give a description of the life and doctrines of the Shaykh. Says the author "I have culled out passages from different parts of his works and arranged the under different headings. Further I have endeavored to give a short summary of the subject matter under each heading in a more direct and simple language so that it may be a sort of a key to the contents under each heading which are in an obscure and intricate language lacking method and abounding in scholastic terminology."

There are a few topics in this work which were not dealt with by any of the previous writers on Ibn al-Arabi. -- from jacket flap
