Description: These talks are based on the teachings (Dharma) of the Buddha, who taught a practice leading to freedom from suffering. Each program lasts about one hour. The recordings were made at the Yucca Valley Meditation Retreat, held in the desert of southern California, April 1989. Jack's teachings are offered freely so that all may benefit.
Jack Kornfield has studied as a lay person and a Buddhist monk with Ajahn Chaa and other teachers since 1967. He has taught Vipassana meditation retreats world-wide for more than 15 years, presenting the Buddha's teachings in a way that is highly relevant to modern-day life. Jack co-founded the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and has played a major role in developing the new Spirit Rock Center northe of San Francisco, California. He is married and has a daughter, and he conducts a private practice in clinical psychology.
