Description: the talks which comprise this book example for the death and universality of the vision of J. G. Bennett, and yet they retain a clarity and simplicity of expression that is hard to equal. The knowledge which we are shown here relates in all cases to the primary and unique position of man, with his capabilities of self-consciousness self perfection. It also alludes to even greater mystery expressed in the words of Giordano Bruno, it was burnt along with all this works first saying, "at the crossroads of the Horizon stands the man." Because of this universal vision, J. G. Bennett was able to feel at home with all people and never limited himself by belonging to, or orienting himself to anyone particular expression. This is the standpoint of love and compassion for all things, the standpoint of true knowledge, for in this vision all existence and creation is contained within One Unique Reality. And it is this vision, unrestricted by dogma and sectarianism that is so important for anyone who wishes to see the world united, conscious of its destiny, and founded on spiritual values rather than personal greed. For as the Andalusian saint, Ibn al-'Arabi so aptly put it, "The Man of Wisdom, whatever may happen, will never allow himself to be caught up with one definite form or belief, because he is wise unto himself." -- from back cover

A series of ten talks and discussions with John Bennett at the Beshara community at Swyre Farm, Gloucestershire, UK between 1972 and 1974. The community was formed during the same period that Bennett set up his school at Sherborne House, and was located no more than eight miles distant. There was frequent interaction between Beshara and the Sherborne students, and Bennett collaborated with the initial leader, Reshad Field, and with the group's spiritual guide Bulent Rauf, a Turkish Sufi.
