Description: During Sri Ramana Maharshi's lifetime the Veda Parayana was held twice a day, morning and evening, and this is continued in Sri Ramanasraman today. The Maharshi encouraged aspirants to attend these recitations, as it was a time of tremendous silence when he sat immobile as though carved in rock. He said that it was not necessary to now the meaning, but was sufficient that the chanting served as a support for meditation. These recordings of the senior priests of Sri Ramanasramam were made under special arrangements in the Maharshi's Old Hall.
