Thread Painting with Style by Nancy Price is a new book that I pre-ordered way back in March. It was worth the wait!. Price includes many of the quilts that she has thread painted, and they are amazing! And so much detail! If you just want to look at the book, and not even do the work, you will be

saying, 'Wow'!

If you are very serious about thread painting, this book teaches you everything! Price begins with the basics: thread, needles, stabilizer, hoops, and thread organization tips. Then, she goes into basic stitches, and when to use a certain thread and needle to achieve a specific effect.

Then, Thread Painting with Style really goes into, what I would consider, advanced techniques. The book goes into shading, blending, shadows, thread sketching, distortion, and embellishment. Another technique is presented: thread painting onto a commercially printed cotton fabric. (I have always wanted to do this better!) Several other projects are also included.

I have always wanted a book like this. The minute details, and advanced instructions can carry you from being a so-so thread painter to a thread artist! If thread painting or thread embroidery a skill that you desire, read this book!
