Description

Reprint of a lovely story, written by Newbery Award winning author Marguerite de Angeli in 1941, about a little Swedish girl adjusting to life in "the New World." As settlers of the New Sweden Colony (1638-1655) Elin and her family experience both the adventure and adversity of life in their new land, but what Elin longs for most is a playmate from back home. Beautifully illustrated historical fiction for young readers.

I feel so lucky I found this treasure (and several others) at a discard sale at the library in Junction City, KS. A treat for fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder and the American Girl series, and for those interested in the Tomten.
