This is a classic tale about a boy who rescues a dragon and then gets a ride home from him- after they save the canaries on the Isle of Feathers. I wasn't that into it, though I think it must have stayed in print so long for some reason, I just am not exactly sure what it is. Perhaps children are

drawn to the boy's adventures, and to the fact that he gets to have them with a dragon. I did notice that the dragon had a similar sort of personality as the reluctant dragon- very gentlemanly.

I liked when the dragon almost fainted because he was standing in water so long. I wish I could have the 3 bags of gold. I liked how the dragon was colored.

My son and I's third read along book. It is the same lovable story as the first one. My son really love it. It is constantly the topic of our conversations. He also said he wants to buy the next one right away. It is a hit in our house so 4/5 stars!
