This was an excellent collection of writings by Laura Ingalls Wilder and her daughter, Rose Wilder. William Anderson does a phenomenal job giving historical backgrounds, contexts, and explanations about each article, story, letter, etc. I learned a lot of things I didn't know, and this was the

first time I got to read large amounts of Rose's writing. This fascinating book is highly recommended to Little House fans who want to know more.

Some of the stories and articles are very interesting but the writing for the most part was dry and repetitive. I know that Rose Wilder Lane wrote articles outside of those based on her life on the prairie as she was a world traveler. None of those articles are included and I think the book suffers

from that exclusion.
