I never knew the story of Beatrice Potter. It was interesting to find out that she lead a lonely life and turned to her pets and art for comfort. The story of Peter Rabbit was written for her friend's son. Her struggle to be recognized because she was female was just the way it was back then. She

found a way to be recognized. It was nice to see that in her older age, she found someone to share her life with.

This biography of tells of the author's life from birth until she is old in age. It shares the unique facts of this private and modest author. I personally enjoyed how this biography shares Beatrix's work of identifying fungi, which was not accepted during her lifetime, because she was a female.

This author had a love for nature, painting, and writing, and I felt this biography allows the reader to understand those values. I enjoyed the creativity of the illustrator of always incorporating a rabbit in to the picture as this adds to the Beatrix Potter's influence as a writer. The classic illustrations are appropriate for the era this author was a live.

This would be a good source for young children for learning about Beatrix potter, however, there is not a bibliography page. There is an author's note sharing what happened to her work after her death, and a listing of her other books.

This book actually made me a little disappointed in the movie Miss Potter, which I love, because it seems like Beatrix Potter was even more fantastic than they showed her. She actually printed her first book on her own, and it wasn't until it sold very successfully that the Warne publishers would

even consider her. The more I learn about her, the more I wish I could have known her. I think we would have been friends.

Finally, one publisher contacted Beatrix and agreed to rewrite her story of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit." She eventually married and focused her life on farming and raising animals with her husband. In the last years of her life she dedicated herself to raising Herdwick Sheep. She became the first woman to be elected president in the Herdwick Sheep breeeder's Association.
