As might be guessed from the title, Mr. Erickson has borrowed a bit from the famous story of 'Chicken Little' to create The Case of the Falling Sky. The chicken in question is head rooster J. T. Cluck and Hank the cowdog falls for his prediction. So does Drover. There's no fox at the Loper Ranch,

but Pete the Barncat steps in to take advantage of the panic. Does he get Hank in trouble? Of course! I laughed at the images conjured up by Hank singing, 'Sally May's Broom'.

The other song Hank sings is 'Hiccup Tango'. He's afflicted with them off and on through most of the book.

Hank and Drover's conversational misunderstandings, Hank's messages from 'mission control' (his brain), and the problems that are the cowdog's own dang fault are as much fun as ever. (I enjoyed the scene created by using an old riddle.) I'll leave you to find out which scares Hank more: Sally May or a big storm.

Happy Listening!
