I loved reading this book and incoorporating it into my lesson. I used this book to introduce all the different forms of adjectives, discussing three of them in particular. Students pointed out the adjectives on each page and they told me what type of adjective they were. Students enjoyed this read

aloud and the pictures were very fun to look at for them. The illustrations were bright.

This is a fabulous series on grammar in a kid-friendly format. The text is simple and rhymed, but a clean rhyme, not the sickeningly sweet kind that manipulates its words to fit the rhyme scheme. The real focus of the book is, however, the illustrations. They are large, vibrant, and as luscious as
Show More
the title. The pictures will keep the children interested, and when they're interested, they learn. Use this book to introduce or emphasize ideas about adjectives.

Beautiful illustrations, but even I, as a college student, had to ponder on the meanings of adjectives, predicate adjectives, demonstratives, possessives, articles, comparatives, superlatives, etc.

Summary of book
This book is about adjectives. It uses humor and rhymes to discus adjectives. It discusses predicate abjection, demonstratives and more. Through out the book it gives you examples of each adjective.

Personal reaction
I like this book to read to students of all ages. The
Show More
rhymes will gain the interest of young student but the educational aspect can help out older students as well.

Extension Idea
Ask students to review the book. Have them use rhyme just like the book did, to write different kinds of adjectives. They can also draw a picture of their work. Have students present their work in class

This book does a great job of introducing and exploring the world of adjectives. It is very descriptive and even shows the different types and how/when they can be used in a cute and easy to understand story

Many Luscious Lollipops is one of the many books in a series by Ruth Heller. All her books are about the parts of speech that intend to be fun to read while also learning! This particular book is about adjectives. I enjoyed reading this book for a few reasons. First, the illustrations are
Show More
beautiful. The book has bright and vivid pictures that are lovely to look at while I'm reading the story. For example, on one of the pages, it describes a wet, rainy day. The entire two pages it covers are completely colored in dark, dreary colors. It really makes you feel what the author is writing. Second, the author has a really great way of telling the readers about adjectives in a cool way. It makes the book that much better to read. For example, "Treat Proper Adjectives the same as any other proper name..a Persian rug, an Irish setter. They always begin with a capital letter." The author twists the words to make it seem like you're not actually learning. The main idea of this book is to teach you about adjectives but in a fun way!

Summary
The book is about adjectives and that adjectives are terrific when you want to be specific. It described different things like butterflies, most, and taller animals. It used adjectives to tell the whole story. It showed how fun reading a books is with more details.

Personal reaction
The
Show More
book was filled with lots of beautiful colors. It explained adjectives to where it would be simple to grasp. It was a fun and easy read

Classroom extension
1. The teacher can have the students create a movie poster using adjectives to make it more appealing for others.
2. The students can come up with an adjective that describes them and has to start with the first letter of their name. For example a student with the name Kim can be kind Kim.
