Description

WHY WE LOVE IT: Five best friends spending the summer at Lumberjane scout camp...defeating yetis, three-eyed wolves, and giant falcons...what's not to love?! WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT:It's Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five butt-kicking, rad teenage girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake. And with the talent of acclaimed cartoonist Noelle Stevenson, talented newcomer Grace Ellis writing, and Brooke Allen on art, this is going to be a spectacular series that you won't want to miss. WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together...and they're not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! This is a good story, though a bit haphazard.

Lumberjanes by Brooke Allen, Grace Ellis, and Noelle Stevenson I have to admit, I was interested the first time I saw the title of this comic. It took a while for me to actually pick it up, but that happens with me. Too many books and comics out there to get to all of them while their still

new.
The day finally came when I could read through a couple of these and it's definitely a series I'll keep up with. The premise is fun and the content is even better. It's everything that I've experienced in large groups of girls, especially among the more tomboyish variety.
#1 mostly serves to introduce everyone, and then the rest expound on the strangeness of their camp and surroundings. Part of the fun of a group of girlfriends is that some say yes to adventure and they bring along their more cautious friends who just may have the words of a reason to get them to safety later. Love these girls!

(I have all the single issues and the Volume on the same review because they were combined into the volume and I figured, why only review one when they share material?)

I reread this issue again today because it couldn't be that short, right? There had to be more. (Oops. Thankfully, there are more issues.)

I really like this. I love the art style, I love the detail in the art. It reads really well, as a comic book should. Your eye just glides right across the page.

There's nothing worse than having a comic book that's awkward to read. I think people miss things like that because it's something a lot of us as readers sometimes take for granted. Noelle Stevenson is a wonderful artist and I'm so excited to see the end result of this project -- it's so polished. c:

I like this series. It's really quirky. I love that there are so many female characters, that's utterly awesome. I would definitely consider purchasing this comic series for someone. (I have a particular ten-year-old in mind, too!)

It's a warm, strange, easy-to-read series with excellent characters and decent representation. I'm excited to read more from Lumberjanes!
