Great story - though it is hard to imagine that women were not believed to be ABLE to run marathons such a short time ago - 1966!

I really liked this book and I highly recommend it. The pictures in this book are beautiful, embodying the freedom of running and the magic it is for Bobbi. Words in the story get incorporated into water coloring, and several pages uses different fonts to convey feelings/ emotions of story. I think

this would be a great way to teach about style or mood. My favorite part is that this book removes the boyfriend as a story in the character. I have read about Bobbi Gibb before, and it’s always a narrative that includes her boyfriend sneaking her in and somehow being part of the hero in the story. In The Girl Who Ran, it’s all about Bobbi.
