Great for children Kindergarten to First grade. It familiarizes students with different animals. Great intro to a writing lesson on what students saw on their way to school.

This book is very similar to Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Short, simple, very repetitive. Very good for babies and toddlers and preschoolers.

The colors of the animals are more realistic, but the artwork is a little weirder. There's no point in having both books in your library, pick one

and leave the other.

This is a wonderful book about a young childs walk that becomes an amazing adventure of meeting a myriad of friendly, familiar farmyard animals. The patterend, predictable text to engage the reader. She also uses rich, watercoolor illustrations that also help to keep the reader engaged.

This is a book that my children seldom request...but, if i pull it out, they both enjoy it. It has a pleasant rhythm and works well for teaching about animals. It's quite similar to Brown Bear, Brown Bear (which I prefer).

Part Bb/Picture Book

Williams, S. (1989). I went walking. San Diego, CA: Gulliver Books.

A young boy goes walking in this picture book and sees a variety of animals in various colors. It is a great way for young readers to learn colors while trying to guess what the boy will see next. Ages 1-3.

For some reason I think the illustration of the child is a bit creepy. This one didn't read as well as I went visiting.

Hearing and seeing the words and animals repeated in this book helps children learn print motivation. This book is an excellent vocabulary builder for names of animals and colors. The sequence of events with one more animal being added to each page help children learn how to tell the story in their
