A young girl likes to go on walks with her father. They walk around the neighborhood together, but do not talk, only listen. She describes the sounds she hears on her walk, then challenges the reader to sit still in the quiet and notice the sounds around them.

I believe this book can spark a great activity kids may enjoy. Take a walk around the school and playground listening to all the sounds. Once the kids get back inside they can do a project describing all the sounds they heard. 5 stars.

This books is simple, yet amazing! Paul Showers does an outstanding job of creating spellings for sounds that really sound like the real thing. Kids would love to try this out and use invented spellings for sounds. I absolutely love this book!

We're going on a listening walk. Shhhhh. Do not talk. Do not hurry. Get ready to fill your ears with a world of wonderful and surprising sounds.

This book shows students how to be aware of their surroundings. This little girl was walking her dog and hears all kinds of different noises in different locations. It shows students that there are different environments where these sounds occur.
