There are ten dogs in this book. (And one cat.) Each dog (and cat) has its own way of making lots of noise. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to make a public nuisance of yourself by BARKING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS! AROOFF! AROOFF! AROOFF!

That really just about sums it up.

If you think

you can't manage it - don't buy the book. But if you think you *can*, you're bound to have great fun with it. I promise :)

Just... don't expect your kids to learn their numbers this way. They'll get too caught up with the barking!

A counting book with dogs, with funny pictures of many different kinds of dogs, and their different barks. Our kids loved this, but the parents found that if you really tried to do all the different bark voices you'd wear out your voice! Good fun for toddlers and preschoolers.

Cute, but my boys sort of found it hard to sit through all the barking. The first dog barks once, the second dog twice, and so on up to 10. Each dog has a different bark and the pictures are adorable of course.

For a while we had to read this one every night, several times. It can wear out your voice. Len and I had a set pattern of barking voices that started to emerge and became the expected sound of the book.

What a great book for sounds, and also teaching kids about dogs and animals. Makes individuality a subtle lesson, as well as self-expression for everyone being different. Boynton always puts in a surprise, which is great. Mrrowr.

This is hilarious, and makes me hoarse each time I try to bark my way through it. Makes Liam pay strict attention.

This short but fun book gets your kids counting, while being introduce to diffident kinds of dogs.

This is a fun book for beginning to learn to count. This could be used for pre-k and kinder classes and would make a fun read aloud with projected pictures as well as a fun one-on-one read with a parent. On each page, the child can count how many dogs there are.

Boynton panders and kind of bugs me, but the page where you do ten dogs with ten barks is worth the price of admission alone.

Doggies! Count them. Help them bark. Help them howl. Bark extra hard at that unwelcome last page visitor! Grrrrrrr.
