Henny Penny gets hit on the head by an acorn and claims “THE SKY IS FALLING”. Henny Penny picks up many of her feathered friends on her way to tell the King about the falling sky. The last character is Foxy Loxy whom Henny Penny trusts to show her and her friends a shortcut to the Kings castle.

Once inside Foxy Loxy’s den the group of feathered friends is never heard from again.

This is a classis folktale in the noodlehead category. The story takes place in the past when King’s and Queens ruled the lands. The story is fun for children because of all the rhyming names of all the animals.

Henny Penny would be a good book to use for rhyming activities. Children could prolong the story and makeup new characters with rhyming names that could fit into the story.

The animals go through the book thinking the sky is falling and telling each other along their way to tell the king. Eventually they tell a fox and he tricks the into following him into his hole and they are never seen again. This book could be used to teach about being careful or just as a fun
