A very limited range of books by contemporary Chinese authors have been translated into English and published in the west, so I found this anthology useful in introducing me to some new authors. I am not alway convinced that the translation always does justice to the quality of the writing, but it is almost impossible to judge. These are all very interesting stories/extracts, and apart from anything else, they provide a glimpse into a world most of us know little about.… (more)
