Description

Books, engravings, drawings, and artifacts illustrate what it was like 500 years ago to wonder at, learn about, visualize, and depict a "New World." This exhibition uses the Folger's wide-ranging collections as important resource for understanding how Europe developed its ideas about the Americas. Folger materials are supplements by artifacts from the Biblotheque Sainte-Genevie?ve in Paris and the Smithsonian Institution as well as drawings from the collections of the Duke of Devonshire.
