Description

One of the great literary figures of the modern age, French novelist Marcel Proust (1871-1922) probes the precarious mental and erotic nuances of love, the frail mysteries of time passing and time past in highly original, surprising tales. Includes a new translation of the complete text of Pleasures and Days, Proust's only short-story collection, and six tales previously uncollected and never before available in English.

This was a decent collection. I actually preferred this to his novels. Some of the pieces, that deal with the more poetic and symbolic aspects of the countryside and nature, were my favorite short stories. Additionally, the poetic one about the classical composers is quite a treat. There is a lot

of variation here, and that plays to both the advantage and disadvantage of the collection. Nonetheless, for those interested in classics, I recommend this as vital reading.
