about our human and social condition (in a more ‘scientific’, kind of detached way, less ‘philosophical’ and ‘psychological’ than Musil, or, rather, in a different way, a way probably more ‘contemporary’ to ourselves than Musil can be today). The novel is located specifically into history, but it goes far beyond the common ‘historical novel.’ Show Less
