Although I had read the two James stories (title story and The Rose Garden) in his Collected Ghost Stories within the last year, I re-read them along with Stevenson's The Body Snatcher. For me, James is a better writer in this genre; his ghost stories are genuinely chilling, whereas Stevenson's is
