This book is more about the times of Patrick Gass than his life...seems like 80% of the book is just a history lesson. A lesson may be necessary to place Gass in American history, but this book was more about the history, less about the man. The writing was not edited from th e1959 version, so

sometimes, it takes a little bit of reflection to discern the author's meaning. Bought this one for $15 as a used book. If I wanted to know about Gass, this was not the book to do it.
