Wow! I am so impressed with The Radical Book for Kids. Its subtitle is Exploring The Roots And Shoots of Faith, and it delivers what it promises. Not a stuffy reference book, but an exciting and entertaining look at God, Jesus, the ancient and modern world, and a life lived in faith, this book will

keep your kids busy for hours and hours. Each 3-4 page chapter is packed with nuggets of knowledge as well as scripturally-based truth. I loved the chapters devoted to men and women who lived for Christ (Augustine, Bunyan, Luther, Lottie Moon, and more) — great historic examples to learn about and emulate, as well as discussions of topics that kids deal with daily — like anger, fear, and friendship. Thornton also includes cool activities. Who wouldn’t want to know how to make a sling, a sundial or a catapult? The word nerd in me loved the Latin phrase and Greek alphabet chapters. I wish this book had been available when my kids were growing up. (I really wish it had been available when I was growing up!) The author explains that this book is to be read by kids on their own, but what a fabulous resource it would make for family time reading and devotions.

Highly Recommended.

Audience: kids ages 8-14 (and their parents when the kids are in bed)
