This book is about a family ready for St. Nick to come to their house and bring them presents. Santa and his elves were being noisy and landed on the roof. They came down the chimney and delivered toys and presents to the family. As they flew off the dad heard Santa say Merry Christmas.

I like the
Show More
rhythm the story has throughout it. This is a story that as been around for a long time and is enjoyable to read whether it is Christmas or not.

In the classroom you could assign a page of the book to each student or group and they can say the story as a play. You could even bring another class into help with the story. Another classroom idea would be to have the students make their own Santa Claus and reindeer's and color and cut them out.

This is such a cute story for all ages. In my family this is one of the books that we would read every christmas.
I would use
Show More
this book around the holidays and read it to a group of children in a library and then have them draw some type of christmas picture or a letter to Santa!

Personal Reaction
I have always loved this story and always will. I feel it is a great book, and a great story and tradition for kids to get to hear every year around Christmas time.

Classroom Extension
1. This book could be used in a unit around Christmas time, along with activities where the children make things for Santa.
2. It could also be used in a unit where the children are learning poetry.

The Night Before Christmas is such a great poem book. I love this and have since it is a classic! It is about the night before Christmas, not a thing was stirring, not even a mouse! It is such a good seasonal book. I would use this in my classroom during December to assist with a poetry theme. I
Show More
would read this to ages 2 and up, such a great book!

Classic, just a classic. All children should know this story like the back of their hands. Personally, this is my favorite Christmas book. I would read my students this book the day before we go on Christmas break just to get them excited and in the spirit. I would probably bring them hot chocolate

as well just to make it extra special.

This is a classic book that is associated with sentimentality around the holidays. Many families read it on the night before christmas as a tradition. This in itself makes it a book worth reading, because the memories that go along with it are often some of the best memories a person can have.

However, another reason this book is worth reading is because it is a good book. The story is cute and imaginative, but the rhymes are what really make it a fantastic book. The rhythm of the rhymes flow so well that it is hard not to enjoy reading it. For example, there is something enjoyable about reading “Now, Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen! On Comet, On Cupid, on Donder and Blitzen!” The fantastic rhymes coupled with the sentimentality of the book make it one that won’t be forgotten. The main idea of this book is to appreciate the joy and wonder that comes with the holiday season.

I am a huge Christmas fan so I couldn't help reading this amazing adaptation of the classic story. The artwork throughout is filled with soft, muted colors and very detailed work that fills the whole page. The poems on each page were the only area not covered with illustrations. Each one also
Show More
describes the scene using rhymes, and with the jolly face of santa, you feel like its christmas when read it! I think this is a great story book for an child during the Christmas season at home or at school. It teaches rhymes and memorization as this is a very common poem that they can help read with you.

What better Christmas tradition could you have than to sit down with your children, have hot chocolate, and read The Night Before Christmas? Most of us are quite familiar with the story, but reading it is magical! It's a journey back to childhood, and trip through our memories and how wonderful the

holidays were while growing up. And, what better Christmas gift could you imagine? This is a masterful description of a classic Christmas, with all the holiday trimmings.

Classic Christmas poem, one of my favorite childhood memories of Christmas. This has beuatiful illustrations as well. My childhood memory was a fairly large size paper book. Wish I still had it. It would be priceless. It was a 1958 edition, illustrated by Florence Winship.
