Remaining optimistic, no matter what life may bring, will enable a positive attitude and create a happier environment. While there were other characters, the main focus was on the boy. He was a very well developed character throughout the story, making it easy to understand his personality. Paying

attention to him all day and his genuine excitement for what was next to come set a theme that was truly inspiring. Even though the boy may argue with his friends, it was quickly forgotten, and his positive outlook resurfaced. As far as the plot, there was no conflict/resolution set up which created a storyline that was not very thought provoking. The book followed a nice rhythm, starting off most pages with, “He was the first to..” Visually, the illustrations were simple, yet intriguing. Overall, this is a cheerful and simplistic story that I enjoyed reading.
