This book is about a normal Asian child living in Hiroshima before and after the war. She discusses how as a child she loved to draw, watch fireworks in the summer with her family and how she did not enjoy school. Years passed and her world was surrounded by preparations for possible war. One day

she has a stomach ache which prevents her from going to school. That same day an atomic bomb was dropped on her city. She survives, along with her whole family, but the devastation of her home was unthiinkable and tragic. Many people she knew died and hundreds of thousands of her community also died. At the end of the book she is greatful for being alive and will never forget what happened that day or all the lives that were lost. Show Less
