This is a sweet mostly wordless book about a girl in a wheelchair looking down on city life from the roof of a building. She calls down to people walking by to look up at her on the roof. A boy looks up and the rest of the illustrated story unfolds from there. I like the use of black and white

illustrations, and the underlying social-emotional elements of this story. I had a nice conversation with my preschooler about art, friends, perspective, and related topics thanks to this book.

I absolutely enjoyed this unique book by Jung Jin-Ho titled “Look Up.” The illustrations of this book are what hooked me. At first I was trying to figure out what I was looking at, then I realized that this book was drawn from the perspective of a child in a wheelchair. It was a heart touching

story of how a community comes together to show compassion for a little girl who’s only wish is to get another view from her window that she is bound to. The pictures and storyline allows the readers to actually sit inside this little girl’s wheelchair to get an understanding of how she feels. This book is great to share with the youth because it gives a great depiction showing empathy for others. It is a beautiful lesson on kindness and compassion for those less fortunate. Even though I feel that the illustrations could be improved, I still give this book a five. I love the authenticity of this book. It has a beautiful underlying message.
