This is a sweet and wonderful story of a girl who is walking home from school one day and sees a hat in the store's window. She wants the hat so bad! She goes into the store and realizes that she has no money to pay for the hat so the store owner notices her and tells her that he has the perfect
I enjoyed this story and have added it to my favorites. Children and adults can relate to such a heart warming story. To see something hanging in the window of a store and to want it desperately is something we can all relate to. We have all seen something and just "couldn't live without!"
As an extension idea, after reading the story I would turn this into a "marvellous" hat game. I would have the children bring their favorite hat to school. We would then discuss why it is their favorite hat. Also, I would ask the children, "what kinds of hats are the people around you wearing? Are any of them the same style or color? This could turn out to be a really fun activity.
