I LOVED this book! The story of a blind girl who surprises everyone in her village with her skills and ends up saving the whole village. Although Yuko-Chan did not take the same classes of the other children, she still picked up the skills and practiced Zen. My favorite part of the book is when she

and her dog go after the robber and end up letting him take the money to save his father. She showed courage and compassion all at one time. This little girl's tenacity and thoughtfulness made the whole story so empowering. The story shows that a disability does not have to stop you from being an amazing person and finding new ways to do things. All things are possible for every being.

I read. Second, I loved the character of Yuko-chan. She was a blind little girl that ended up saving her village by selling homemade Daruma dolls. It was so great to see such a strong protagonist although she could not see. After reading this book, I found that the big idea is that determination can yield good fortune and happiness.
