Description

Barney and Hooker are together again and fighting crime, leaving a trail of chaos, panic, and disorder in their wake. Some would say they're drawn toward trouble like a moth to a flame. Others would claim their friends, Rosa and Felicia, dump trouble in Barney's and Hooker's laps. Either way, they are in over their heads when Rosa is kidnapped, and her disappearance is linked to a dangerous voodoo priest and his search for a mystery-drenched stolen statue. Written by Janet and Alex Evanovich, and illustrated by Joëlle Jones (Dr. Horrible, Token), Troublemaker brings ultimate adventure set in sun-filled Miami

Having already read Motor Mouth and Metro Girl from the same series I felt this strayed pretty far from the previous stories and not because it was a comic book. The character of Alex(Barney) is much girlier and less mechanic. The whole reason I liked Barney was that she was tough and didn't try to

fit the stereotypical girl. Suddenly she is all feminine and worried about ruining her shoes. It is as though she turned into Stephanie Plum! If the series continues in this direction, I believe I will no longer follow it as my hero Barney has become a sell out.

Really well illustrated. The story line is a bit rough ~ skips in continuity ~ but it does hang together. The cliff-hanger ending sort of makes you want to read the next installment, but could be stronger.

If you know Janet Evanovich, you know what to expect. Female lead character gets drawn into an adventure (this time kidnapping and voodoo) male sidekick blames her for the messes he sometimes creates while trying to save her, things aren't always straightforward in the resolution and there's a big

dog involved in this.

I like that Barnaby is independent, though I think that with all the running around she gets involved with she needs more sensible shoes.

I like the story and the characters. The art work was quite good. Perhaps it is because I have read so many of Evanovich's other works in novel form that I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. I missed the format of a novel for a story like this. There simply isn't enough space in the
Show More
graphic novel to include all the delightful conversations and observations of her characters. This book was okay, but knowing I can get even more from one of her novels, I will be returning to that genre for this author.

From Goodreads:
Narrator Alex Barnaby 30 and NASCAR driver Sam Hooker fight crime the only way they know how - leaving a trail of chaos. Hooker's friends Rosa and Felicia call for help. To find a missing man, Alex and Sam go deep into the underbelly of Miami, survive Petro

Voodoo, explosions, gift- wrapped body parts, a deadly swamp chase, and Hooker's mom.

Not a terrible story, mostly fluff which isn’t always a bad thing. Beware the cliffhanger though. The story may have failed to impress, but that artwork...wowzers. It’s fantastic! Totally worth reading the book for the art alone.

This book didn't work for me. The story fails to create any real tension. The situation seems overly contrived. The ongoing narration trying to tie it to the previous Alex Barnaby stories are flat. The art is totally out of sync with the characters created in Metro Girl and Motor Mouth. I won't be

bothering with the follow-up chapters.
