This is a biography about Mae Jemison that is told at an accessible reading level. One thing I appreciate about this book is the multiple examples of non-fiction text features. It has a table of contents, headings, maps, bold words, fact boxes, photographs with captions, a timeline, a glossary, an

index, a web address for more information, and an about the author info box. Also, it has a poem about Mae Jemison as well as a bullet-point list for steps to take to be a scientist (be curious, work hard, etc.) It's not always easy to find easy readers that also have such defined NF text features. For such a short book, it was packed with relevant information.
