Very sweet; even hooked my husband, reading over my shoulder. Only issue might be that some of the concepts and vocabulary might be a little beyond the demographic of kids who'll be attracted to the book, but determination should get many of them past it. It really demands its sequel!

I wasnt a big fan.
Aster and her parents move to the middle of nowhere. There is nothing there but quiet, birds and nature. And it is so boring. No its super boring. Her mom and dad are consumed with their work in science. Her brother, well he has other plans.
Encouraged by her dad to go outside and

This was very cute and fun! A very different story and set of characters from the Hilda series, but the closest I've found so far to the spririt of fun and adventure in those books, and similar thematically. Also somewhat similar to the Tiffany Aching series.

Cute -- cute book, cute images, same heartwarming pseudo-Scandinavia as Hilda. In general, I liked it. I think Hilda does a better job connecting into mysterious mytho-natural phenomena, but I do love the seasonal theme going on here.
