Summary:
A story about Llama and his mama preparing everything for Christmas. Llama is very excited about Christmas but he has to wait fifteen days for the day to arrive. He is not patient because he wanted the day to get here already. At the end mama teaches Llama that gifts are nice but that the

most important thing is that they have each other. Family is the most important thing.

Comments:
I like that the text is very descriptive. I also like that the story teaches children about the importance of family and that Christmas is a time to be with the family. the pictures are very detailed and describe what is happening in the story very well.

If there's one thing Llama Llama doesn't like, it's waiting. He and Mama Llama rush around, shopping for presents, baking cookies, decorating the tree . . . but how long is it until Christmas? Will it ever come? Finally, Llama Llama just can't wait any more! It takes a cuddle from Mama Llama to

remind him that "Gifts are nice, but there's another: The true gift is, we have each other."

Today, FINALLY, our copy of Llama Llama Holiday Drama came in at the library! I've been hearing about it for months, ordered it and then had to patiently wait for it to arrive. Quite frankly, I was ready to express my own llama drama if it didn't come in quick! Oddly enough that is the main thread
Show More
of the this most recent Baby Llama story: patience.

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can be extremely overwhelming, especially for impatient little ones. It seems that Baby Llama knows a holiday is coming, participates in many holiday activities with his mama, but cannot stop wondering when the big day is actually going to arrive!

What is unique about this holiday book, is that the word Christmas is never actually mentioned. There are clues in the background of the illustrations like a December calendar with days crossed off and a sign in a store window saying "Only 12 more shopping days". Dress up clothes are stated to be in "red and green" and a Christmas tree is decorated, yet no one says "Merry Christmas". Instead, subtle homages to other late Fall and early Winter celebrations can be seen, such as braided bread, star and moon cookies, and spinning dreidels, and Baby Llama is experience all that the holiday times have to offer.

It's no wonder that the little Llama gets overwhelmed with "Too much music, too much fluff! Too much baking, too much stuff!" There is an awful lot build up for "one day". Mama Llama reminds us though that "gifts are nice, but there's another, the true gift is we have each other."

I definitely recommend adding this to your holiday titles. Little ones love Baby Llama, and all ages will enjoy the rhythmic holiday story with the fantastically expressive and loveable llamas!

Pretty cute holiday book for children! The illustrations were nice and colorful, but the drama part was a little grating.

This book is wonderful to share with children around the holidays. It is about how Llama is ready for the holidays but he wants to know how many more days. He gets so wrapped up in material things that his mother has to remind him that the biggest thing about the holidays is that they have each

other. It could be used in a school setting because it never focuses on one holiday it touches on each of them. It also never brings any religious aspects into the story so it would be safe to use in public schools. The story line is relate able to many children that are becoming anxious for the holidays.

I wanted to not like this series for some reason. The little llama seems whiny...but the books always come through in the end with a very sweet message.

This is an adorable book in the Llama Llama series. Llama Llama cannot wait until christmas!! But, why all the fuss? Why does it take so long? He just wants to open his presents NOW! Him and momma bake cookies, go to the store to shop, he makes decorations in his class, and still, its not Christmas
Show More
yet! At the end of the book, momma reminds him that during this season, sometimes people forget what it is all about, and so she snuggles up her little Llama, and the two share a happy holiday.
